3: The way international people talk about the UK.
Ok, so I just saw something on Tumblr that made me want to go on a (tiny, mini) rant (ie. blog post #3). So the post was..
London: we just won another gold medal!
America: We just won mars
And it just made me think about all the times people are in theory talking about the UK or Great Britain as a whole but call it something else. I mean, London just won another gold medal, what? I think you mean the UK/GB just won another gold medal. London is a city, not a competing nation in the Olympics. This always happens when people are talking about the UK but call it England. I’m sorry but I think you’ll find there are other nations in the UK that you’re forgetting and are just as important. Would be good if you acknowledged them and knew that the UK is made up of 4 different countries and isn’t just another name for England. Rant over. Enjoy your day/night Tumblr folk! :)
